Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 medium-sized Egg
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Red food color
  • 1 tbsp Baking soda
  • 1 tbsp Almond extract
  • Cream shortening and sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups Shortening
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Prepare a clean glass bowl. Sift flour, add baking soda, and sprinkle salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs, then add almond extract. Combine with shortening and sugar. Incorporate the flour mixture.
  • Mix well, form dough balls, and flatten into cookies. Create a centre dent, and add food colour.
  • Arrange on a baking pan, and bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes.
  • Once baked, cool, and store in an airtight container. Serve as needed.

Notes

  • Ensure a smooth texture by sifting the flour to remove lumps.
  • Use a measured amount of almond extract for a balanced flavour.
