- 3 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 Tsp Instant Yeast
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Cup Warm Water
- 1 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
Mix your dry ingredients in the large bowl. Stir the flour, yeast, and sugar well. Ensure they combine completely before adding liquids.
Pour warm water and oil into the bowl. Stir everything until a soft dough forms. It should feel slightly sticky but manageable.
Knead the dough on your clean counter. Do this for ten full minutes. The dough must become completely smooth.
Let the dough rise in a warm spot. Wait until it doubles in total size. This usually takes about one hour.
Punch the risen dough down gently. Divide it into eight equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball.
Flatten each ball with your rolling pin. Create a nice oval shape. Fold the oval in half gently.
Place each folded bun on parchment paper. Let them rest for twenty minutes. They will puff up nicely.
Boil water in your large pot. Place the steamer basket on top. Steam the buns for ten minutes.
Turn off the stove heat now. Leave the lid closed for five minutes. This prevents the buns from collapsing.
- Use fresh instant yeast for the best high rise.
- Keep the steamer lid closed tight while cooking.
- Measure your flour accurately with a kitchen scale.
- Let the water cool slightly before mixing yeast.
