Peel the onion but keep root intact.
Cut off the top part carefully.
Place onion cut-side down on cutting board.
Make vertical cuts from top to bottom.
Stop about ½ inch from the root.
Turn and make more cuts creating 16 sections.
Gently separate the petals like a flower.
Mix flour with half the seasonings.
Put beaten eggs in another bowl.
Combine breadcrumbs with remaining seasonings in third bowl.
This setup makes coating much easier.
Dust onion with seasoned flour mixture first.
Shake off any extra flour gently.
Dip entire onion into beaten eggs carefully.
Finally, press breadcrumb mixture between all petals.
Make sure every part is coated well.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place coated onion on prepared baking sheet.
Spray generously with cooking spray all over.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Spray again halfway through for extra crispiness.
