Equipment

  • Large skillet or pan
  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing spoon or spatula.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry spaghetti noodles.
  • 1 pound lean ground beef.
  • 1 medium onion chopped fine.
  • 1 bell pepper diced small.
  • 2 cans 15 oz tomato sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions

  • Cook the spaghetti in salted water. Drain it while it is still firm.
  • Cook the beef in a large skillet. Add the onion and bell pepper now.
  • Stir in tomato sauce and dry spices. Let the sauce simmer for ten minutes.
  • Toss the cooked pasta into the meat sauce. Mix everything until the noodles are coated.
  • Pour half the mix into the baking dish. Sprinkle half of your cheese on top.
  • Add the remaining pasta and remaining cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Notes

  • Do not overcook your pasta initially.
  • It softens more while baking in sauce.
  • Use high-quality sharp cheddar for better flavor.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to the sauce.
  • This cuts the acidity of the tomatoes.
  • Let the dish rest before you slice it.
