Equipment

  • Large Dutch Oven
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Can opener
  • Chef Knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 Large Yellow Onion
  • 1 Medium Green Bell Pepper
  • 3 Cloves Garlic
  • 2 Cans Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 Cans Kidney Beans
  • 1 Cup Beef Broth
  • 3 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Place the ground beef in your large pot. Turn the heat to medium-high on your stove. Cook the meat until it is fully brown.
  • Drain the excess fat from the pot carefully. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers now. Sauté them until they are soft and clear.
  • Stir in the minced garlic for one minute. Do not let the garlic burn or turn bitter. It should smell very fragrant and nice.
  • Pour in the canned tomatoes and beef broth. Add the ingredients for Paula Deen Beef Chili spices. Stir everything together until it is well mixed.
  • Add the kidney beans to the pot last. Bring the mixture to a slow boil. Then turn the heat down to low.
  • Cover the pot with a tight lid. Let it simmer for about forty-five minutes. This lets the flavors blend together perfectly.

Notes

  • Use high-quality beef for the very best flavor.
  • Always drain the beans before adding them in.
  • Sauté vegetables until they are very soft and sweet.
  • Let the chili sit for ten minutes before serving.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to balance the tomatoes.
  • Top with fresh cheese for a creamy finish.
