Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cooked chicken shredded.
  • 1 package 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened.
  • 1/4 cup of green onions chopped.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
  • 2 cans 8 ounces each of refrigerated crescent rolls.
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter melted.
  • 1 cup of crushed seasoned stuffing mix or breadcrumbs.

Instructions

Prep the Oven

  • Heat your oven to 350°F before you start. Lightly grease your baking sheet.

Mix the Filling

  • In the large bowl, stir together the chicken, softened cream cheese, and green onions.

Season the Mix

  • Add the salt and pepper to the chicken. Mix until the cream cheese is very smooth.

Fill the Dough

  • Unroll the crescent dough. Place a large spoonful of the chicken mix onto the wide end of each triangle.

Roll them Up

  • Roll the dough up towards the point. Pinch the sides closed so the cheese stays inside.

Add the Topping

  • Dip each roll into the melted butter. Then, roll it in the crushed stuffing mix or crumbs.

Bake the Tray

  • Place the rolls on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until they are deep golden brown.

Serve it Warm

  • Take them out of the oven and let them rest for five minutes. Serve them while the centers are gooey.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken. It is very juicy and seasoned, which saves a lot of time on prep.
  • Soften the cheese. Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature so it mixes easily with the meat.
  • Pinch the edges. Sealing the dough tightly prevents the creamy filling from leaking out on the pan.
  • Use seasoned stuffing. Crushed stuffing mix provides a much better crunch than plain breadcrumbs.
  • Add some spice. A dash of garlic powder or dried dill adds a wonderful Southern aroma to the filling.
  • Don't crowd the pan. Leave space between the rollups so the hot air makes the sides crispy.
