Ingredients
  

  • 4 Large Green Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup All-purpose Flour
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1 Cup Cornmeal
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Tomatoes Wash the firm green tomatoes first. Cut them into thick, even slices.
  • Set Up Bowls Put flour in the first shallow bowl. Mix eggs and buttermilk in the second.
  • Mix the Coating Place the cornmeal and spices in the third bowl. Stir them together very well.
  • Dredge the Slices Coat each tomato slice in the white flour. Shake off any extra flour.
  • Dip in Liquid Dip the floured slice into the egg mixture. Make sure both sides are wet.
  • Final Bread Coating Press the tomato into the cornmeal mixture. Cover the entire slice completely.
  • Heat the Oil Pour oil into your large skillet. Heat it until it is very hot.
  • Fry the Tomatoes Place slices in the hot oil carefully. Do not crowd the pan.
  • Cook Until Golden Fry each side for three minutes. They should look brown and crispy.
  • Drain and Serve Move them to a paper towel. Serve them while they are still hot.
