Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Colander
  • Mixing bowls
  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Measuring cups
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Lb Italian Sausage
  • 1 Package Lasagna Noodles
  • 15 Oz Ricotta Cheese
  • 16 Oz Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 32 Oz Marinara Sauce
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Cook your ground beef and sausage in the skillet. Break the meat into small crumbles as it browns. Drain all the excess grease into a jar carefully.
  • Add the marinara sauce to the cooked meat now. Stir it well to combine all the flavors together. Let the sauce simmer on low for ten minutes.
  • Boil a large pot of salted water for noodles. Cook the pasta according to the package directions today. Drain the noodles and lay them out flat.
  • Mix the ricotta, eggs, and parsley in a bowl. Add a cup of mozzarella to this mixture too. Stir until the cheese filling is smooth and even.
  • Spread some meat sauce in the baking dish bottom. This prevents the noodles from sticking to the pan. Place three noodles over the red sauce layer.
  • Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Add another layer of meat sauce on top now. Sprinkle more mozzarella cheese over the sauce layer.
  • Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are gone. Ensure the top layer is plenty of mozzarella cheese. This creates a beautiful golden crust when baked.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake it now. Remove the foil for the last fifteen minutes. This lets the cheese bubble and turn brown.

Notes

  • Use high-quality meat for the best savory flavor.
  • Salt your pasta water well for better tasting noodles.
  • Let the lasagna rest for fifteen minutes before cutting.
  • Do not overcook the noodles before you bake them.
  • Use fresh herbs to brighten up the heavy sauce.
  • Mix the cheeses well for a very consistent texture.
  • Drain the meat thoroughly to avoid a greasy dish.
  • Spray the foil with oil so cheese does not stick.
