Measuring cups
- 8 Oz Elbow Macaroni
- 4 Cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 3 Eggs
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
- 4 Tbsp Butter
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Whole Milk
- 1/4 Tsp Black Pepper
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees now. Grease your baking dish with butter or spray. This prevents the pasta from sticking to the sides.
Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the macaroni for about six minutes. It should be slightly firm or al dente.
Drain the pasta well in a colander. Return the warm noodles to the large pot. Add the butter and stir until it melts.
Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl. Add the milk and sour cream to the eggs. Mix them until the liquid is very smooth.
Pour the milk mixture over the buttery noodles. Add most of the shredded cheddar cheese now. Stir everything together with a large spoon.
Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish. Spread it out so the top is flat. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the very top.
Place the dish in the center of the oven. Bake it for about 30 to 40 minutes. The top should be golden and bubbly.
- Use block cheese and grate it yourself.
- Do not overcook the macaroni while boiling.
- Let the casserole sit for five minutes.
- Use full-fat sour cream for more richness.
- Add a pinch of paprika for color.
- Make sure the eggs are at room temperature.
- Butter the baking dish very generously.
- Salt the pasta water like the sea.
