Equipment

  • Baking pan
  • Electric mixer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Orange Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Orange Zest
  • 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Orange Juice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees now. Grease your baking pan with butter or spray. This prevents the brownies from sticking to the bottom.
  • Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl. Use your mixer on a medium speed setting. The mixture should look very pale and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs to the butter and sugar. Mix them in one at a time for smoothness. Pour in the fresh orange juice and zest.
  • Stir in the flour and the salt slowly. Do not overmix the batter at this stage. Stop once you see no more dry flour.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan. Spread it out evenly with your small spatula. Bake for about thirty minutes in the oven.
  • Whisk the powdered sugar and juice for the glaze. Pour it over the brownies while they are warm. Let them cool completely before you cut them.

Notes

  • Use fresh oranges for the best zest and juice.
  • Do not overbake the brownies or they get dry.
  • Let the brownies cool to get very clean edges.
  • Sift your powdered sugar to avoid a lumpy glaze.
  • Cream the butter and sugar for at least three minutes.
