Measuring spoons
- 1 Lb Pork Sausage
- 1/3 Cup All-purpose Flour
- 3 Cups Whole Milk
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Butter
Place your large skillet on the stove. Turn the heat to medium-high. Add the crumbled sausage to the hot pan.
Brown the meat until it is no longer pink. Use your spoon to break it into small bits. Do not drain the fat from the pan.
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir it well to coat every piece of meat. Cook the flour for one or two minutes.
Slowly pour the milk into the skillet. Whisk constantly while you pour the liquid. This keeps the gravy very smooth.
Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Continue to stir as the sauce gets thick. This usually takes about five to seven minutes.
Add the salt and the black pepper. Taste the gravy to check the seasoning. Serve it hot over fresh, warm biscuits.
- Use whole milk for the richest and creamiest texture possible.
- Keep stirring the gravy to prevent it from burning.
- Add more milk if the gravy becomes too thick.
- Brown the sausage well to get the best deep flavor.
- Cook the flour for a minute to remove raw taste.
