Wooden spoon
Colander
- 1.5 Lbs Ground Beef
- 1 Medium Onion
- 2 Cups Mixed Vegetables
- 1/2 Cup Beef Broth
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 4 Large Potatoes
- 4 Tbsp Butter
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
Peel and chop your potatoes into small chunks. Place them in the large pot carefully. Cover them with two inches of cold water.
Turn the stove to high heat now. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Cook until the potatoes are very soft.
Drain the potatoes using your colander. Add butter and milk to the pot. Mash them until they are very smooth.
Place the skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onions. Cook until the meat is no longer pink.
Drain the extra fat from the skillet. Stir in the frozen vegetables and beef broth. Add the Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
Pour the meat mixture into your baking dish. Spread it out into one even layer. This is the base of your pie.
Spread the mashed potatoes over the beef. Use a spoon to make it smooth. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on the very top.
Place the dish in a hot oven. Bake at 375 degrees for twenty minutes. The cheese should be bubbly and brown.
- Use warm milk when mashing your potatoes.
- Brown the beef well for the best flavor.
- Always drain the grease to avoid a soggy pie.
- Add extra cheese if you love a gooey top.
- Season every layer with a bit of salt.
- Let the pie rest before you slice it.
