- 2 Lbs Ground Beef
- 1 Medium Onion
- 1 Large Green Bell Pepper
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 2 Cans Kidney Beans
- 2 Cans Diced Tomatoes
- 1 Can Tomato Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 1 Tsp Cumin
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
Brown your ground beef in a large skillet first. Cook it over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain all the excess fat from the pan carefully.
Add the chopped onions and peppers to the meat. Sauté them for five minutes until they are soft. Stir in the garlic for one minute at the end.
Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to the cooker. Pour in the beans, tomatoes, and all the sauces. Stir everything together until it is well combined.
Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper now. Make sure the spices are spread throughout the pot. Put the lid on the slow cooker tightly.
Set the cooker to low for six hours. You can also use high heat for three hours. Let the flavors blend together slowly over time.
- Always brown your meat before adding it to the pot.
- Drain the beans well to keep the chili very thick.
- Taste your chili before serving to check the salt levels.
- Use fresh garlic for the best and strongest flavor profile.
- Add a pinch of sugar to balance the tomato acidity.
