Ingredients

  • 2 lbs GROUND BEEF
  • 2 cups ONION
  • 2 cans KIDNEY BEANS
  • 2 cans PINTO BEANS
  • 1 can CORN
  • 2 cans DICED TOMATOES
  • 1 pkg TACO SEASONING
  • 1 pkg RANCH DRESSING MIX
  • 2 cups WATER

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Place the large skillet on the stove. Turn the heat to medium-high now. Add the ground beef and chopped onion.

Step 2:

  • Cook the meat until it is brown. Stir it often with your wooden spoon. Break the meat into very small crumbles.

Step 3:

  • Drain the grease from the skillet carefully. Move the meat to a large pot. This keeps the chili from being oily.

Step 4:

  • Open all of your cans of food. Do not drain the beans or corn. Pour everything into the large pot now.

Step 5:

  • Add the taco seasoning to the pot. Pour in the ranch dressing mix too. These spices make the whole dish great.

Step 6:

  • Stir in the water or broth slowly. Make sure all ingredients are well mixed. The color should look very rich now.

Step 7:

  • Bring the chili to a boil slowly. Turn the heat down to low now. Let it simmer for thirty minutes total.

Step 8:

  • Stir the chili every few minutes. This prevents the bottom from burning. The flavors will blend together very perfectly.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce extra grease.
  • Do not drain the cans for richer broth.
  • Add extra chili powder for more heat.
  • Top with cheese for extra creamy flavor.
  • Let the chili sit before you serve.
  • Use a slow cooker for easy cooking.
  • Chop the onions very small for texture.
  • Add a pinch of sugar for balance.
  • Use beef broth for a deeper taste.
  • Keep the heat low during the simmer.
