Equipment

  • Baking Dish
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Wooden spoon
  • Whisk
  • Oven mitts
  • Serving Ladle

Ingredients

  • 4 cups FRESH PEACHES
  • 2 cups GRANULATED SUGAR
  • 1/2 cup BUTTER
  • 1 cup SELF-RISING FLOUR
  • 1 cup WHOLE MILK
  • 1 tsp CINNAMON
  • 1 tbsp LEMON JUICE
  • 1/2 cup WATER

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Turn your oven on to 350 degrees right now. Put the butter in your baking dish first. Let it melt in the oven while it heats.

Cook the Peaches

  • Put peaches, sugar, and water in a saucepan. Add the lemon juice for a tiny zing. Boil the mixture for about five minutes total.

Mix the Batter

  • Whisk the flour, milk, and extra sugar together. Make sure there are no dry white clumps. This will be your golden cobbler crust.

Combine in Pan

  • Take the hot dish out of the oven carefully. Pour the batter directly over the melted butter. Do not stir the batter and butter together.

Add the Fruit

  • Spoon the warm peaches over the white batter. Pour the peach syrup over the top as well. The crust will rise through the fruit.

Bake Until Gold

  • Put the dish back into the hot oven. Bake for forty-five minutes until it looks brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before eating.

Notes

➜ Use ripe peaches for the most natural sugar flavor.
➜ Do not stir the layers for a perfect crust.
➜ Check the center with a spoon for thickness.
➜ Use cold milk for a better batter texture.
➜ Sprinkle extra cinnamon on top before you bake.
➜ Let it sit to thicken the sweet syrup.
