Cut cabbage into wedges or chunks.
Remove the hard core from center.
Boil water in your large pot.
Add salt to the boiling water.
Put cabbage pieces into the pot.
Cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
Cabbage should be tender but firm.
Drain water and set cabbage aside.
Let it cool down a bit.
Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
Add flour and stir it well.
Cook for about one minute only.
Slowly pour in milk and cream.
Keep stirring to avoid any lumps.
Cook until sauce becomes thick and bubbly.
This takes about 5 minutes total.
Add cheese and stir until melted.
Season with pepper and garlic powder.
Your sauce is ready now!
Preheat your oven to 350°F first.
Grease the baking dish with butter.
Place cooked cabbage in the dish.
Pour creamy sauce over the cabbage.
Make sure everything is covered well.
Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter separately.
Sprinkle this mixture on top evenly.
Add paprika for a nice color.
Cover dish with aluminum foil tightly.
Bake in oven for 20 minutes.
Remove foil after 20 minutes pass.
Bake uncovered for 15 more minutes.
Top should be golden and bubbly.
Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Then serve it hot to everyone!
