Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups
  • Box grater
  • Small cookie scoop.
  • Kitchen Timer
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

  • 1 lb BREAKFAST SAUSAGE
  • 2 cups BISCUIT BAKING MIX
  • 1 lb SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE
  • 4 oz CREAM CHEESE
  • 1/2 tsp BLACK PEPPER
  • 1 tsp DRIED PARSLEY
  • 1/2 tsp GARLIC POWDER
  • 2 tbsp MILK

Instructions

Prep the Oven

  • Turn your oven on to 350 degrees right now. Line your baking sheet with some parchment paper. This makes the cleanup very fast and easy later.

Shred the Cheese

  • Grate your sharp cheddar cheese with a box grater. Freshly shredded cheese melts much better than bagged cheese. Set it aside in a small bowl for now.

Mix the Ingredients

  • Put the raw sausage and cream cheese in a bowl. Add the biscuit mix and the shredded cheddar cheese. Sprinkle in your garlic powder and black pepper now.

Knead the Dough

  • Use your clean hands to mix everything very well. It will feel very stiff and heavy at first. Keep mixing until you see no white dry flour.

Roll the Balls

  • Scoop a small amount of the thick meat dough. Roll it between your palms into a one-inch ball. Place each ball on the prepared baking sheet evenly.

Bake Until Brown

  • Put the tray into the hot oven for twenty minutes. The sausage balls should look very golden and firm. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

➜ Use room temperature cream cheese for easy mixing.
➜ Do not overbake or the sausage balls get dry.
➜ Use spicy sausage for a much bigger flavor kick.
➜ Wet your hands to stop the meat from sticking.
➜ Grate your own cheese for a much better melt.
➜ Let them rest for five minutes before you serve.
