Schwartz Chilli Con Carne Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 450 Beef (mince)
  • 1 mug Brown rice
  • 1 tin Red kidney beans
  • 2 tins  Tomatoes (chopped)
  • Red pepper
  • Yellow pepper
  • 1 Half red onion
  • 1 tub Sour cream
  • Chilli sauce (optional)
  • 1 bag  Tortilla chips
  • Lime

Instructions
 

  • Chop veggies finely and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a big pan, add mince, and brown.
  • Break mince into small pieces while cooking.
  • After browning, remove the juices and add veggies.
  • Mix in Schwartz seasoning with meat.
  • Soften veggies for a few minutes, and combine all ingredients.
  • Drain and rinse kidney beans; add to the pan.
  • Pour in two cartons of chopped tomatoes, and mix.
  • Let it simmer - longer is better for flavours. Stir often.
  • Most liquid gone? Boil water for rice. Turn off chili.
  • Cook rice as instructed: one mug for two, boiling water.
  • Mix rice once, leave for 20-25 minutes, drain, and serve.
  • While rice cooks, chop chili, get sour cream, tortillas, and sauces.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge. Serve chili over rice with sides.

Notes

  • Browning the meat adds depth to the flavour.
  • Don't hesitate to try different types of beans.
  • Serve with a spoonful of sour cream and shredded cheese.
