- 6 gallons Filtered water
- 8 pounds Ground cracked corn
- 1.5 pounds Malted barley
- 1 pack Yeast (usually 11g)
Heat 6 gallons of filtered water to 165°F in a large pot. Turn off the heat, and add cracked corn.
Stir corn every 5 minutes. When it's at 150°F, add crushed barley. Mix well.
Malted barley is vital for converting starches to sugar. Cool mash to room temperature.
Strain cooled mash using cheesecloth or strain later after fermentation.
Ensure the mash is at 70°F before adding yeast. Aerate mash 5-10 times between the fermentation bucket and pot.
Add yeast, and seal with an airtight lid and airlock.
Ferment at 70-75°F for 10-14 days. Wait for two days of no airlock activity before distilling.
